Muscle Car Cruisers are hosting their 5th Annual Toy Drive to benefit Children's Cancer

The Muscle Car Cruisers of Alberta (MCCA) are gearing up for their fifth annual Toy Drive for Kids Cancer Care (KCC).

According to organizer Tracey Forsyth-Lundy, the May 26 event at McMahon Stadium will be the biggest yet.

After the fundraising show in the parking lot west of the stadium, cars will drive around the Alberta Children's Hospital for those who can't make it down.

“We've been doing it together every year and it's grown a lot from where we started — this year we're in the west end parking lot of McMahon Stadium instead of Market Mall,” Forsyth-Lundy said.

“Bring a new toy. That's all it takes to enter. Bring a new, unwrapped toy, donate a toy, come on down and check out over 150 muscle cars and supercars.”

The event will showcase an amazing collection of muscle cars and supercars, including Brian Milloy's McLaren 765LT Spider.

Only 765 were made.

That's also the official horsepower rating for his engine, though Milloy claims it's a little over 800 horsepower.

Others include several McLaren 720s, a Koenigsegg CCR (one of only 13 in the world and the only one in North America), a one-of-a-kind Ferrari Spyder, and even a rare 2012 2SS RS Transformers Special Edition Camaro—yes, a real-life Bumblebee.

Milloy says it's a fun way for car owners to give back to the community.

“You just think about how common cancer is, and kids don't have to go through that,” Milloy said.

“This event puts a smile on their faces. You know, brightly colored cars and stuff. It makes their job a lot easier. They're happy for a day, and they and their families forget about everything that's going on.

“That's what makes it so valuable for all of us.”

Sunday's event begins with a special treasure hunt for KCC families from 8:45 to 10 a.m.

KCC kids use clue cards to find 12 mystery cars scattered around the parking lot with a prize waiting for each car.

It is then open to the public from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m

KCC staff will be there to collect donations directly.

Food trucks will be available, with a portion of sales benefiting KCC.

Attendees can also enter a 50-50 raffle to purchase mystery envelopes, with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting KCC.

The MCCA aims to break the KCC record and make it the largest car fundraiser in Calgary's history.
