These are the 10 most affordable neighborhoods in Calgary

Calgary's real estate market is in high demand right now, which has caused rents and home prices in the city to skyrocket, but some neighborhoods are easier to buy than others.

Daily Hive reached out to digital real estate platform Wahi, who crunched the numbers for us and found the most affordable neighborhoods in the city.

These are the neighborhoods with the lowest average sales prices for all types of real estate in Calgary:

Average home sales prices in these neighborhoods range from the high $100,000s and low $300,000s. For Calgarians who have given up on home ownership, homes in these neighborhoods may seem more affordable.

If you're looking at a detached home, these are the areas to look for the most affordable homes and the price ranges you can expect:

  1. Red carpet – $114,250
  2. Greenwood/Green Bush – $155,000
  3. Forest Height – $433,500
  4. Penbrook Meadows – $453,000
  5. Abbeydale – $460,000
  6. Dover – $475,000
  7. Erin Woods – $480,000
  8. Forest Lawn – $496,000
  9. Ogden – $500,000
  10. Falcon Ridge – $511,250

When looking at trade-in prices, it may come as a surprise to learn that none of these areas are the most sought-after in the city. Home prices in the mid $500,000 to $700,000 range seem to be the most popular right now.

If you're new to the city and looking to break into the housing market, we've got a list of the best neighborhoods to move to in Calgary (that might be more in your price range).
