A Calgary resident won $1 million on Lotto 6-49

Randall Donison says he's getting a big prize as part of his recent lottery win.

Officials said he won $1 million in the March 30 Lotto 6-49 drawing and that the winner was surprised by the news.

– I haven't had coffee yet! Donison said in a press release.

“To be honest, I never thought it would happen and my (pick) numbers didn't match, but I always double-check Lotto Spot.”

Officials said the winnings came from the Gold Ball jackpot on a ticket purchased at the Shell gas station at 3550 NE 32nd St.

“I started playing Lotto 6/49 before they had the Golden Ball and the extra jackpot,” he said. “I must have checked it on the app at least 10 times that day.

“Hey, it's legit!” It took some time before I understood.

Donison says the money will make life easier for him as he plans to put some money toward a mortgage and help some family members.

He also said that he would treat himself with the money.

“I'll probably buy a nice steakhouse dinner!”
