Saskatchewan police watchdog investigating officer-involved shooting in Regina – Winnipeg Free Press

REGINA – Neither Regina police nor Saskatchewan's police watchdog are releasing more details about an officer-involved shooting in a residential neighborhood that ended with a body in the roadway, according to a neighbor.

The Regina Police Service said they were investigating what they called a “serious incident” involving a SWAT team Sunday afternoon in the 1100 block of Harry Street.

They said the Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team, which investigates serious police-involved incidents, was called in to investigate the incident, but no further details were provided, and SIRT said in an email that it would refer all media inquiries.

Doug Turnbull, who lives down the block, says he heard what he initially thought was a backfire from a car, then saw a SWAT car on the lawn and a body covered in a blanket in the street.

Turnbull said the quiet neighborhood doesn't usually see police action, but he says the home he believes was involved doesn't usually have its lawn mowed.
