Here are five things to watch out for in the Canadian business world next week:

Inflation

Statistics Canada will release its consumer price index for April on Tuesday.

The figure comes after annual inflation rose to 2.9 percent in March from 2.8 percent in February.

The Bank of Canada will be closely watching April's reading on how fast the cost of living is rising ahead of its June 5 interest rate decision.

Suncor presentation

Suncor Energy Inc. will host a webcast to present a near future business forecast.

The company said earlier this month that it will charter and operate several Aframax oil tankers to transport crude from the recently completed Trans Mountain pipeline expansion to Pacific markets.

In early May, the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion celebrated its official opening.

WestJet

WestJet Group CEO Alexis von Hoensbroch will address the Calgary Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday.

The airline chief is expected to report on the company's growth strategy.

It's just before the busy summer travel season.

Results of CPP Investments

The Canada Pension Plan Investment Board is expected to release its annual results and annual report on Wednesday.

The investment manager manages investments for the Canada Pension Plan and its more than 22 million contributors and beneficiaries.

The fund amounted to 590.8 billion dollars on December 31, 2023.

TD Bank earnings

TD Bank Group will report second quarter results and hold a conference call with investors and financial analysts on Thursday morning.

The findings come as a major Canadian bank faces a U.S. investigation into laundering illegal fentanyl proceeds.
