A tube of toothpaste helps investigate fossils found near Sask. camp – Winnipeg Free Press

HERE, Sask. – Saskatchewan investigators have released photos of objects found near a campsite and the human remains of a man they believe died a decade ago.

RCMP say they are hoping someone will recognize the items and help identify the man.

Police said in a press release that they have launched an investigation into human remains found on April 28 at a makeshift camp in a deep forested area in Moose Jaw Rural Municipality.

The post did not identify whether he was male or female, but said there was no evidence to suggest he was involved in foul play.

The search turned up a number of personal items, including clothing, backpacks and toiletries, and police said one particular item — a tube of toothpaste — helped investigators narrow down the man's time in the area.

The toothpaste had an expiration date of 2013, and the manufacturer told investigators it was made no earlier than 2012.
