Calgary's Scubafest raises funds and awareness for suicide prevention

A popular Kensington bar is hosting a May weekend music festival to benefit men's mental health.

There is scuba diving at 10th Street presents Scubafest, a live music celebration that raises funds for the Calgary Suicide Prevention Center and its Buddy Up campaign, an initiative focused on men's mental health.

The festival kicks off Friday and runs through Monday, featuring nine Alberta-based artists ranging from singer-songwriters to full bands.

Some artists include Eric John, Eric Brown, Jamie Allanach, Marina Joy, Kate Reid, Lily Monaghan, blnk CADET, Howells and Sunstrokes.

There is also an all-day art market.

On Monday, there will be an acoustic breakfast and an open jam session, so bring your guitar and your appetite.

The event hopes to serve as a platform for men and their friends to have real conversations, encourage engagement in activities that promote connection and well-being.

Tickets are $10 per show or $25 for the weekend.
