Rain or shine, here's a look at what's open and closed this May long weekend in Winnipeg.

Grocery stores:

Grocery store opening hours vary over the long weekend, but here's a list of stores open on Victoria Day:

  • Walmart is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m
  • Superstore is open from 7 am to 10 pm
  • Safeway and Sobeys stores are open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. or 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., depending on location.
  • Costco is closed on Mondays.

Liquor stores:

All liquor stores in Winnipeg will be open on a Sunday schedule – 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, except for True North Square Liquor Mart, which will be closed.

Liquor stores in Brandon and rural communities are also open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

City services:

All City of Winnipeg offices will be closed on Victoria Day, but the city's 311 telephone service will still be available for assistance.

The Winnipeg Parking Authority office will be closed for the long weekend, but people can still pay their parking tickets online.

Winnipeg Transit:

On Monday, buses will operate according to the Sunday schedule.

Garbage and recycling:

Shopping centers:

Kildonan Place, St. Vital Centre, Polo Park, Outlet Collection Winnipeg and Garden City Mall will be open Mondays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Grant Park Mall is open Monday through noon to 5 p.m. Portage Place will be closed.

Museums, galleries and events:

The city's indoor pools, fitness and recreation centers will be closed Monday with the exception of the Pan Am Pool, which is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Margaret Grant Pool, which is open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and the Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex, which is open from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m

The Manitoba Museum and St. Boniface Museum are open Mondays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Canadian Museum of Human Rights is closed on Monday.

Winnipeg Art Gallery-Qaumajuq will be open Monday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Royal Aviation Museum is open on Mondays from 10am to 5pm

Forks Market will operate its regular hours throughout the long weekend, but some tenants may choose to open earlier or later at their discretion.
