Crews battle an overnight fire at a recycling plant outside Calgary

Firefighters east of Calgary were battling a large fire outside the city overnight.

The fire broke out at a recycling plant in the Wrangler Industrial Park near Glenmore Trail SE and Stoney Trail just after 8 p.m. Thursday.

Devil Teal, along with the Rocky View County Fire Department, says crews quickly brought the fire under control. They remained in place until noon Friday to ensure all hot spots were out.

“The weather conditions helped us,” he said, referring to the cooler air and light snow on Friday morning.

There were five Rocky View County stations, as well as the Calgary Fire Department (CFD) antenna.
