Winnipeg police have arrested six people in an anti-exploitation operation

In an important step to combat exploitation and ensure community safety, the Winnipeg Police Service's Anti-Exploitation Unit has made several arrests and seizures as part of ongoing outreach and investigations into active offenders.

The operation, conducted in conjunction with the local Women and Girls Safety Strategy, resulted in the arrest of six men aged between 22 and 70 on 15 May 2024. The men were charged with receiving sexual favors and later released on bond. , as provided in the Criminal Code.

In addition to the arrests, five vehicles were impounded under the Road Traffic Act, further cracking down on sex traffickers.

As part of the operation, several people working in the sex trade were offered access to community resources, underscoring the department's commitment to support and rehabilitation, not just enforcement.

The Winnipeg Police Service encourages all members of the community to do their part to ensure safety. Anyone with information regarding exploitation issues in the community is encouraged to contact the Anti-Exploitation Unit at 204-986-3464. Call 911 in an emergency.
