The hospital's research center in Winnipeg was evacuated; Police station at the scene

A research center at a Winnipeg hospital was evacuated as the police bomb squad helped dispose of the “flying object.”

The Winnipeg Police Bomb Squad was at the St. Boniface Hospital Albrechtsen Research Centre.

Police told CTV News the unit was there “to assist with the disposal of a volatile substance.” Police confirmed the incident was not believed to be bomb-related while the bomb squad responded.

The building was evacuated as a precaution during what police called a “controlled material retrieval.”

This is an evolving story. One more time.
