AHS will host an EMS Fleet Day event in Calgary

Alberta Health Services (AHS) invites Calgarians of all ages to participate in EMS Fleet Day on Sunday.

This event is one of many happening across Canada as part of National Paramedics Week, which runs May 19-25.

“(He) respects the people who provide this important public service,” AHS said in a Friday news release.

“The week also provides a better understanding of the importance of EMS in our health care system and in our communities.”

“We Help” is the theme of the week as AHS Calgary-area EMS paramedics respond to more than 164,000 calls for service.

“Each year, more than 5,600 EMS professionals support nearly half a million emergency and transport calls, both on the ground and in the air,” according to the AHS website.

During Sunday's event, paramedics will demonstrate how to use medical equipment, and there will be interactive ambulance and EMS vehicle tours.
