Andrew Johnson | CTV News

Andrew Johnson is a multi-talented reporter for CTV National News based in Vancouver.

Andrew grew up in the Kootenay ski towns before moving to Vancouver Island. He entered Victoria University and graduated with a degree in sociology. From there, he decided to act on his long-simmering broadcasting aspirations and headed east to Mount Royal University in Calgary.

Shortly after completing his broadcasting program, Andrew's first job in the business was reporting and anchoring for CTV News in Prince Albert, Sask. He quickly shifted gears and moved to a sports table in Saskatoon. But after a few years trying to scratch the BC itch, he returned to the news and the island, where he married his daughter Victoria and started a family.

After a wonderful 15 years at CTV on the island, Andrew made the jump to CTV News Vancouver before moving to CTV National News.

Andrew enjoys the writing and storytelling aspects of his job, as well as the deadline-driven reality of producing local news every day, which never gets boring.

Highlights of his career include covering the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver, visiting children receiving life-saving organ transplants across the country with the David Foster Foundation, and one of his first assignments, a hayride in St. Louis, Sask.

Andrew enjoys life at home with his wife, two children, and two cats, Cheddar and Bree. He enjoys golf, running and playing hockey. He openly admits to being a fan of the Calgary Flames, locked deep in enemy territory.
