A tornado warning has been issued for southeastern Manitoba

Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a tornado warning for parts of southeastern Manitoba.

Environment Canada and Climate Change (ECCC) says a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado is located near Riverside and is moving south at 20 km/h.

It says gusty winds, large hail and localized heavy rainfall are possible, with gusts of up to 90 km/h and nickel-sized hail.

Warning areas:

  • RM of Emerson-Franklin, incl. Roseau River
  • De Salaberry RM incl. St. Pierre-Jolis and St. Malo
  • Morris

“This is a dangerous and life-threatening situation,” ECC said. “If hazardous weather approaches, take cover immediately. If you hear a rumbling sound or see a funnel cloud, swirling debris near the ground, flying debris, or any hazardous weather approaching, take shelter immediately.”
