Calgary's former mayor says he's rooting for the Oilers in the playoffs

The Edmonton Oilers received some surprising support before Game 5 against the Canucks on Thursday, with former Calgary mayor Naheed Nenshi throwing his support behind the team.

Nenshi, a prominent figure in Alberta politics who served three terms as mayor of Calgary, announced in March that he would run for the NDP leadership.

Nenshi wrote on his X account Thursday afternoon: “As a Calgarian, I'm not going to lie, it hurts a little bit. But… nothing happens here. OILS! It's sure to be an exciting 5 games.”

Nenshi also said in the video, “I think I'm going to run for premier of the entire province, so here you go oilers.”
