Calgary Police “Cram-a-Cruiser” for Food Bank.

Calgary police officers and representatives from the Calgary Food Bank are teaming up to fill a police cruiser with food, personal hygiene items and cash.

Between September 1, 2022 and August 31, 2023, 380,997 people visited the food bank and 149,909 hampers were distributed.

“The Calgary Food Bank is the first line of emergency food support for families and individuals in crisis,” says the Calgary Food Bank website.

“As the city's primary charitable food hub and most affordable food bank, we have the ability to serve families, individuals and organizations to fight hunger.”

Because they rely on the support of the community, the food bank is hoping to make a donation during the Cram-a-Cruiser event on Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Real Canadian Superstore at 10505 Southport Rd. SW

The organization's May wish list includes diapers, cereal, pasta, pasta sauce, canned tomatoes and canned meat.

“Babies use more than 2,500 diapers in their first year, which can cost up to $1,200, depending on the brand,” the food bank reports.

“In 2023, more than 22,000 children's bowls were distributed to families through our emergency response program.”
