The Philadelphia Flyers beat the Calgary Flames 3-2

Travis Konecny broke a third-period tie on a short-handed shot, and the Philadelphia Flyers ended a four-game skid with a 3-2 win over the Calgary Flames on Saturday.

Morgan Frost had a goal and an assist for Philadelphia, which has dropped six of seven games overall. Sean Couturier also scored and Carter Hart made 22 saves.

Konecny, a representative of the Flyers' All-Star, scored 2:27 into the final period with a shot past Flames goaltender Jakob Markstrom. It was his fifth-best shorthanded goal in the NHL and his No. 21 goal of the season overall.

Jonathan Huberdeau and Mackenzie Vigar scored for Calgary, which has won three straight. Markstrom made 39 saves.

The Flames trailed 1-0 and 2-1 in the second, but the Flyers came back each time.

Frost stood near the far post to take down Sean Walker at 4:15. Couturier knocked home a Frost punt return at 16:06 to tie the game at 2 with his 10th of the season.

Frost was scratched by Flyers coach John Tortorella for the team's previous game.

Calgary thought it had tied the game with six minutes left, but the goal was nullified when Connor Zari was whistled for an interference penalty for tripping Flyers defenseman Nick Siler.

The game was a little tight in the second period as the teams played 30 minutes in penalty kicks. There was a battle between two top forwards, Joel Faraby for Philadelphia and Elias Lindholm for the Flames.

The Flyers celebrated the birthday of their late founder, Hockey Hall of Famer Ed Snyder, throughout the game. It was attended by dozens of alumni and the new mayor of Philadelphia, Cherelle L. Parker dropped the ceremonial puck with Snyder's three children in attendance.
