Montreal's Pathetic Attack – Dose.ca

The Canadiens won their first game without Sean Monahan yesterday in Washington. According to some, this is proof that the rebuilding is underway and that the youth have stepped up their game.

But I am not one of them. Sorry folks.

The Hubs beat a team twice as likely to be drafted top 3 Rather than making the playoffs right now…

A team with one of the worst differentials in the NHL…

A team that lost Yevgeny Kuznetsov (NHL relief program) hours before the game… still found a way to dominate. 39-26 in shots on goal. Ovechkin and Pacioretty aren't 2016 players, let's say…

Alex Ovechkin is not what he was 20 years ago.

Anyway, let's not be too fooled by this victory of Montreal in the capital of America. That victory was the work of Samuel Montembo, the veterans in blue and the front trio. That's it.

Nick Suzuki led the way in his return from Toronto with two goals and an assist, Juraj Slafkowski scored twice and Cole Caufield had an assist. The three young forwards accounted for four of the Habs' five goals. Without them, there would be no game and no show last night.

There's an old saying to never put all your eggs in one basket…by doing so, you risk losing everything if you hit a snag.

Yesterday Slafkowski's return with Caufield and Suzuki gave the team a smile. Except on nights when that trio doesn't work — and there will be — success will be hard to come by. Salvation is impossible without the contribution of the first trio.

A trio of Habs second, third and fourth looked like this yesterday:

Army – Gignac – Anderson
Pearson-Evans-Ilonen
Pezzetta – Condotta – Harvey-Pinard

With a guy who still hasn't scored after 24 games this season, a guy we bought because of his negative valuation, and if they weren't in the NHL, it looks like the Rockets of a few months ago. Owned twenty of the NHL's 32 markets (and they stay in town because they don't want the GM to lose them. for nothing by giving up).

I'm willing to believe that Alex Newhook is on the verge of a comeback, but he's not going to change things by himself. Especially not in the center, where it's too****** thin and it's not necessarily high.

we look forward to it Christian Dvorak Kirby Dutch is back for next season!

This 2023-24 season should be used to identify hubs. HUGE downside: their lack of raw talent and offensive depth. With three (center) players (Dach, Dvorak, and Newhook) on the injured list, it would be wrong for us to see an offense that is too bare and lacks threat. Let's hope Suzuki, Caufield or Slafkowski don't end the season on the injured list…

Unfortunately, the quality young players likely to join the club in the next few weeks are all defensemen: Lane Hutson, Logan Mailloux, David Reinbacher, Adam Engstrom. Only problem is it's not on the blue line right now.

Don't tell me what it takes for Joshua Roy, Emile Heinemann or Luke Tuch to make a difference. right now inside show.

The only good news in all of this is Montreal's mediocre offense should, in theoryLet the hubs tank and plan well for next season.

And who knows? Maybe Kent Hughes will decide to swap a defender or two to bolster his attack…

Because it's not like this future prospect pool is overflowing with inner gems. It needs to be supplemented and better balanced.
