The chain ends

In this final match of the regular season, Chevery used the same lineup he played against Ottawa exactly one week earlier.

That includes Desbiens, who had a terrific performance in a 2-0 win over Ottawa and a 64-minute, 29-second shutout against New York.

At 15:19 of the first period, the streak ended when Knight Desbiens pounced on a loose puck in the half circle and pushed it into the back of the net.

That goal started a period of dominance for Boston, who took five of the next six shots before the end of the period.

They doubled their lead with 78 seconds left in the first period thanks to a forgotten Müller in the slot after a throw from Desbiens' right.

The Montrealers had some good moments in the first half of the first period, especially on the power play.

However, despite spending nearly two full minutes in Boston's zone, Montreal managed just one shot on Frankel.
