First responders rescue a worker from a sinkhole at a SE Calgary construction site

First responders rescued a worker who fell into a large sinkhole at a construction site southeast of Calgary on Wednesday.

Fire and EMS were called to Legacy Grove SE around 1:00 PM after a worker fell into a foundation pit being poured on a home under construction.

As of 3:00 p.m., the worker was pulled out of the pit and his condition is normal.

The air unit was mobilized to evacuate the worker. EMS planned to treat him in the pit before lifting him.

A technical rescue team was called to the scene together with a labor protection officer.
