Urgent medical intervention saves the young man; Police are looking for a suspect

WINNIPEG – NEWS – On the evening of February 13, 2024, units of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched to the Osborne Transit Station following reports of a stabbing incident involving a male passenger.

The call came in around 8:45 p.m., prompting police and emergency medical assistance.

Upon arrival, officers found a 20-year-old man suffering from a stab wound.

Emergency medical care was administered, including the application of chest compressions to the victim's injuries. He was later taken to hospital in critical condition, but has since stabilized and is now in stable condition.

The first phase of the investigation revealed the tragic circumstances of the violent encounter.

According to police, the incident escalated after another male passenger on the bus racially abused the victim. After the verbal abuse, the situation escalated by threatening and physically assaulting the victim.

The altercation forced the bus to stop, at which point two people got out of the vehicle.

The assailant fled the scene before the police could apprehend him.

Authorities are now looking for the suspect, described as a thin white male in his 20s and 30s.

The Winnipeg Police Service's Major Crimes Unit is leading this investigation and is encouraging anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward.
