Get ready to party: Calgary's only roller rink is officially open

It's official: Calgary is finally seeing the return of its dedicated roller rink, and there's going to be a big party to celebrate!

The skate house announced Wednesday afternoon that the rink will open for the first time on February 23.

The opening comes exactly seven years after the iconic Lloyd's Roller Rink closed after decades of operation.

Classes for adults, members-only outdoor skates, DJs and more. there will be a big extravaganza. With a light installation, there will be two days of events and even a mixtape night.

The project was started by Calgary Roller Skate, which has kept the roller skating spirit alive in the city since Lloyd's closed, offering pop-up rink events, learn-to-skate lessons and even hosting Canada's only roller skating festival. .

The organization has been teasing the launch of the ice rink since last year, with news of its progress regularly shared on social media.
