Elderly man found missing in Toronto for 7 hours: VIDEO

Betty's husband, an elderly Alzheimer's patient, was reported missing to the Toronto Police Service in December 2023.

“I called my wife and there was no answer,” the husband said in the video. “I was very worried. I looked everywhere and I think it's completely gone.”

So, he called the officers of the 43rd Division and reported his wife missing. Betty was wearing light slippers and a jacket before she went missing, which caused concern for her husband and officers, the video explained.

In a subsequent search, officers used drone video and thermal imaging to search a wooded area off Ellesmere Road in Scarborough.

“We set up the drone, set up a search pattern over 100 acres of land that was impossible for the officers on the ground to search, and when I turned on the last line of Ellesmere, a thermal signature appeared on the screen. ,” Cst. Mike Ramsey said.

“I launched the drone and put the searchlight – the bush is heavy, but (…) you can see the face of a man in the trees,” he continued.

It took almost seven hours from the time Betty was reported missing until she was found.

“He was shaking,” Ramsey said. “Maybe hypothermia is starting to set in.”

Betty's husband expressed his “thousands” of appreciation for the video completion service.

“They were so efficient, so professional, and they have the knowledge (..) and the tools,” he said.
