The STM is “lovingly” renaming several Montreal metro stations for Valentine's Day

How about 'Chéri-UQAM' or 'Namour' instead of Namur? Montreal's public transit agency (STM) is having some Valentine's Day fun — posting photos with new, loving names for the city's metro stations.

Berry-UKAM was temporarily called “Chéri-UQAM”, Acadie – “Acadit-Oui”, and Villa-Maria is now called “Villa-Mariage”.

STM took to Instagram to ask the public which station they think is the most romantic.

The post received thousands of likes and more than 100 comments, including Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante's response, “J'adore,” and Quartier Latin, “On peut rebaptiser Berri-UQAM en Chéri-UQAM à l'année longue?” he answered.

The STM said the changes were made for social media purposes and the actual names were not changed.
