Toronto police are set to release an update this morning on the shooting death of a 44-year-old mother of two who was hit by a stray bullet last summer.

Carolina Huebner-Makurath was walking in a Leslieville neighborhood on July 7 when shots were fired following a physical altercation between three men.

Police say Det. Homicide and Missing Persons Officer Henri Marsman will provide an update on the investigation at 10 a.m.

Three people have been charged in Huebner-Makurat's death, including 32-year-old Damian Hudson, who was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.

Twenty-year-old Ahmed Mustafa Ibrahim was also arrested and charged with murder and robbery, while a 23-year-old community worker who worked at a nearby controlled consumption facility was charged with being an accessory after the fact and obstructing justice.

None of the charges were proven in court.
