Bad business in the illegal drug trade leads to charges

A Calgary man who handed out business cards with “free samples” of cocaine at a downtown casino has been charged with drug trafficking.

On Sunday, December 24, 2023, officers patrolling a downtown casino were made aware of a business card being handed out to patrons at the casino. The card contained the name “Alex Lee” and a small bag containing a suspected sample of cocaine.

Investigators tracked the suspect, who goes by the alias “Alex Lee,” and gathered evidence throughout January related to drug trafficking involving the suspect and the vehicle he was using.

On Saturday, February 3, 2024, officers conducted a traffic stop on a 2020, white Toyota Tundra. The driver was arrested and the vehicle was searched as well as a residence in the 0-100 block of Beaconsfield Place NW where the following items were seized:

· 59.6 grams of cocaine, individually divided into more than 50 bags

· Digital scale with drug residue

· $1,280 cash

· Business cards with “Alex Lee”.

Seyed Amir RAZAVI, 30, of Calgary, is charged with two counts of trafficking a controlled substance, one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking and three counts of possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000.

RAZAVI has been released from custody and will next appear in court on Monday, February 26, 2024.
