Miles Bridges charged in domestic violence case dismissed – Winnipeg Free Press

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) – Criminal charges in a domestic violence case against Charlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges were dismissed Tuesday due to “insufficient evidence,” court documents show.

Bridges was charged on Oct. 6, 2023, with three counts of violation of a domestic violence protection order, child abuse and injury to personal property.

The state said in Charlotte's Mecklenburg County District Court that prosecutors “will not be successful at trial.” The woman who accused Bridges gave conflicting stories about what happened, authorities said.

“Given the lack of sufficient evidence necessary to overcome the inconsistencies in these accounts, the state will not be successful at trial,” prosecutor Samantha Pendergrass said in court documents signed by prosecutor Samantha Pendergrass.

Supreme Court documents state that when police officers responded to the call, they found a woman and her children in a car with a damaged windshield. She initially told police another woman in the home had caused the damage, but a few days later told them it was Bridges who did the damage. The woman later told prosecutors she didn't know how her car was damaged, according to court documents.

Bridges was scheduled to appear in court on February 20 to answer to the charges.

He was suspended from the 2022 season for the entire 2022–23 NBA season as a result of a domestic violence case. Bridges is accused of assaulting the mother of his children in front of them in Los Angeles.

He pleaded no contest in November 2022 to one count of felony injury to the child's parents and agreed to serve three years of probation and no jail time. Bridges, 25, was also ordered to complete 52 weeks of parenting classes, 52 weeks of domestic violence counseling and 100 hours of community service as part of the deal.
