Pearson warns of flight cancellations as powerful winter storm hits Northeast US, Maritimes

GTA travelers heading to parts of the US or Eastern Canada will want to check their flight status before heading to the airport on Tuesday.

Pearson Airport is warning that several flights to and from New York, New Jersey, Boston and Philadelphia have been canceled due to a powerful winter storm that has swept through the Northeast. The airport also warned that flights to and from Halifax would be cancelled.

“Environment Canada is expecting a winter storm this evening to bring 15 to 25 cm of snow to seas,” airport officials wrote on the website X. “So far, airlines have canceled eight scheduled flights from Toronto Pearson to Halifax Stanfield. , and four flights from Halifax Stanfield to Toronto Pearson.

Eight flights from Toronto to New York City's LaGuardia Airport were canceled, officials said. A few flights were still available from Pearson to LaGuardia on Tuesday.

A winter storm warning warns of blustery conditions and up to 25 cm of snow for parts of Nova Scotia and Environment Canada.

“A nor'easter moving across the south of the province will bring dangerous winter weather to southern and eastern Nova Scotia,” the warning said.
