The City of Calgary is getting a new brand slogan

The City of Calgary has a new brand….'Blue Sky City'.

Calgary Economic Development unveiled the new slogan Wednesday afternoon during a community report at the TELUS Convention Centre.

“The new brand speaks to Calgary as a blue-sky city of thought and innovation, a place of unexpected opportunity and a place where peoples, countries, cultures and ideas meet,” Calgary Economic Development said in a statement.

It also shows that Calgary is the sunniest city in Canada with 333 days of sunshine per year, the agency said.

The latest branding replaces “Calgary: Be a Part of the Energy,” which has been in place for nearly a decade.

The agency said research found the previous brand did not represent all Calgarians and contributed to a “one-size-fits-all view” of the city by non-Albertans.

“The process involved the business community, government, equity communities, Indigenous communities, youth groups, non-profit communities, associations and arts groups to create a more inclusive and representative brand for the city,” it said. release.

“This agreement covered a wide range of people, taking into account age, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation and geographic location.”

More than 129 organizations were consulted on the change.

The logo is expected to be released in the coming months.
