Winnipeg was forced to move from MS River Rouge owner Alexander Docks

A Winnipeg cruise ship owner isn't moving his boat, despite what the city says about the state of the Alexander Street dock.

Due to ice damage, the downtown dock is being closed for inspection.

Kyriakos Vogiatzakis, owner of the MS River Rouge, said the high water levels had ruined his season.

But Vogiatzakis said he was paid for the use of the dock and that he would not move.

“If they think they're going to threaten me after they've guaranteed my hire and given me only three weeks to adjust accordingly, I guarantee you they'll have the police if they have to. Officers escorted me from that property,” Vogiatzakis said.

“If it means removing the barricades, I will do it,” he said. “I'm really excited about this because I know any other city would give their left arm for a boat like this.”
