Man arrested at Trudeau airport after shooting in Rosemont

A 29-year-old man was arrested last Thursday in connection with a shooting at Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport in the Rosemont-La-Petit-Patrie district.

Montreal police (SPVM) say they have reason to believe the man is “preparing to flee abroad” because he has a one-way ticket to France and about $6,000 in Canadian currency.

It happened on April 7 at 7:00 p.m. after gunshots were heard on avenue 25e and rue de Bellechass.

According to the police, a 21-year-old man was in the car that was reported stolen earlier.

“After a brief discussion, the suspect pulled out a 9mm handgun and shot the other person multiple times,” police said. “The man in the car was hit by a shell in the upper part of his body. Despite this injury, he fled the scene and went to the hospital.”

His injuries were not life-threatening.

Police say the suspect is known to them.

He was charged with attempted murder in a Montreal court.

He is also charged with possession of a firearm without a permit and reckless discharge.

The victim was also arrested while in the hospital.

He is charged with illegal possession of a weapon.
