More than 1,500 finance, industry, government and Indigenous leaders are expected to attend the April 22 and 23 conference.

TORONTO, April 17, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The First Nations Major Projects Coalition (FNMPC) will hold its seventh annual conference on April 22-23, 2024 in Toronto, marking the first time the premiere event has been held in the city. a two-day conference called Our Collective Advantage: Local Occupants' Agreement (“OCA”)provides a platform for financial sector and business leaders, government officials and First Nations leaders to engage in dialogue, collaborate and build strategic partnerships.

The world is undergoing massive economic and environmental change, and Indigenous engagement is critical not only to ensure the benefits of Indigenous peoples, but also to advance North America's share of the global economic market.

About the First Nations Master Project Coalition

The First Nations Major Project Coalition is a collective group of 160+ nations consisting of elected councils, hereditary chiefs, tribal councils and development corporations who have decided to come together to advance their common interests in participation and where appropriate equity positions in major projects being implemented on their territories.

Major project advancement is at the core of FNMPC's service offering and currently supports its members on 17 major projects located across Canada, each with a First Nations equity investment component and a portfolio exceeding the combined total capital value. CAD $30-40 billion. Support from FNMPC member services includes tools and advice to help First Nations make informed decisions about the economic and environmental issues associated with major project development.
