David Savard will see Montreal in the playoffs next year

We've seen progress on the Habs since the rebuild began.

This progress is slow…

But it's still happening and that's what matters at the end of the day.

If they win tonight's game, the Habs will end the season with 77 points.

For the past two seasons, it's been:

  • 22-49-11 in 21-22, good for 55 points
  • 31-45-6 in 22-23, 68 points is good

This is where we see the team getting better year after year. The club is on the right track and will have a chance to make the playoffs at some point.

But who knows when that “certain point” will come. David Savard told the media ahead of tonight's final game of the season at the Bell Centre.

I think we can make the playoffs next year. – David Savard

It's hard to say (or predict) because the Canadiens have been plagued by injuries (again) this year.

Kirby Dutch hasn't played all season, Alex Newhook has missed his share, David Savard has also…

Besides, there are young people who will be even stronger next year.

So getting wet while writing is practically impossible.

We understand that David Savard didn't want to say that the players don't believe in the playoffs next season, but there is real faith in the words of a defenseman who has seen it all since his NHL debut.

All in all, if the Hubs want to go there, they're going to need all their guys. The goalkeepers must be strong, the first line must deliver as it has in the last forty games… And the defense must be better.

In short

– What is your prediction for today's game?

– The voice of the Bruins will retire at the end of the season.

– Can't wait to see it.

– Come on, Rafa!

– Oh!
