Manitoba PCs will elect a new leader in 2025

The Manitoba Progressive Conservatives will elect a new leader on April 26 of next year.

The party must choose a replacement for former premier Heather Stefansson, who resigned earlier this year.

Wayne Evasco has served as interim leader of the Tories, who have been in opposition since losing the 2023 provincial election.

The Tories recently changed the rules for electing leaders.

Instead of a strict one-membership, one-vote system, the party adopted a points system that limited the influence of constituencies with large numbers of members.

Party rules now allow online voting as well as postal voting, although the final decision rests with a committee that sets the detailed rules for the contest.
