A construction worker was injured at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal

MONTREAL – Quebec's workplace safety commission confirmed Monday that the man injured at Montreal's Olympic Stadium was involved in construction work.

A worker was reported to have fallen approximately 30 feet in the ventilation system at noon. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Montreal police referred questions to the workplace commission, CNESST.

A spokesperson for CNESST said the investigation is ongoing and that the workplace where the incident occurred has been suspended.

The Olympic Park Sports Center, including the Olympic pool, was destroyed by fire in March, and officials recently announced that the facilities will be closed at least until this summer. The report said cleanup operations included a ventilation system.
