GAME DAY: Kraken at Jets | Winnipeg Airplanes

Winnipeg seems to be peaking at the right time of year. During their six-game winning streak, they shot 33.3% on the power play and killed 84.6% on the penalty kill. Connor Hellebuyck and Laurent Brossoit combined for a .947 earned run average this month with a 1.67 goals against average.

“Yeah, I think we're playing pretty good hockey right now,” Dylan Samberg said.

“Right down to our goalkeepers, who have been fantastic in the last two games. I think we want to continue building or playing well now, but we're never satisfied.”

Winnipeg is 6-2-0 against Seattle as the Kraken enter the NHL, winning their first four games. Five of the last six games between the Jets and the Kraken have been decided by one goal. Even with the Kraken out of the playoff picture, the Jets expect a competitive game.

“They have good speed, good depth and they play very fast, up-tempo,” Rick Bowness said.

“There are some guys out there that are fighting for jobs, but they made the playoffs last year and won the round, and they're all disappointed with their season. I'm sure they all want to finish this season on a high, on a positive note. Warning.”

Appleton agrees with his coach about the dangers of playing for a team that plays like it has nothing to lose.

“But I think our game is trying to stay the same, but at the same time, we've been told that they played a high-pressure, run-and-gun game and played very fast,” Appleton said.

“So we've got to find a way to play against him every time we play Seattle, which has been a really good game the last couple of years, so I'm not expecting anything different tonight.”
