Interac acquires rights to the Vouchr platform, which provides multimedia for electronic transfers

TORONTO — Interac Corp. has acquired Toronto-based Vouchr Ltd., which lets you send personalized multimedia messages alongside money transfers. states that it will obtain exclusive Canadian rights to use its platform.

National Debit Network says that after the integration, its electronic transfer service will offer customizable notifications that Canadians can use when making an electronic gift.

Another feature allows Canadian businesses to send company-branded electronic transfers to employees, customers and suppliers.

Examples of customization when sending money can include e-cards, videos and GIFs embedded in the transfer, says Anurag Kar, head of product at Interac e-Transfer.

Financial terms of the deal were not immediately available.

Interac says the transaction is part of its strategy to invest in the Canadian fintech ecosystem after acquiring Ottawa-based digital security firm 2Keys in 2019.
