Montreal's Japan Week Festival returns next month with a Sushi Show and Shiba Parade

Montreal's festival season is well underway, and returning to the culture and food scene is none other than Japan Week in Montreal.

From the creators of YATAI MTL comes the fourth annual Japan Week Festival, bringing together more than 40 local businesses from Montreal restaurants, shops and cafes to help you explore Japan without a passport.

This year's Japan Week runs from May 6-12, and Montrealers can visit tons of boutiques and eateries while participating in cultural events and celebrations that showcase the rich and exciting culture.

The 2024 festival will include more than 20 restaurants to open (or reopen) for Montrealers, including Juni, Noren, Ichigo Ichi, Neotokyo Ramen, Yokato Yokabai and Yen Kitchen.

In addition to Montreal restaurants participating in this year's Japan Week festival, more than 20 boutiques and pastry shops are also taking part in the promotion. Many businesses, including Kyoto Fleurs, Kimono Vintage, Manga Lounge, Galerie D'Okeya and Center Taiyo, open their doors for Montrealers to enjoy an endless supply of delicious Japanese desserts, browse classic clothing and sip traditional teas.

Fans of Shibas and Akitas will also be happy to know that the signature dog gathering will be held during Japan Week. The fifth annual Puppy Parade will be held at Parc Sir Wilfred Laurier on May 11 at 2 p.m. In case of rain, the event will be postponed to May 12.

“This event is intended to provide a unique opportunity for Patrons, Shibas, Akitas and all lovers of these unique dog breeds to meet, share and celebrate,” Asiasi said in a press release shared with the MTL Blog.

The event is open and free to all, whether you are a Shiba or Akita owner, or just a fan of these adorable breeds.
