Winnipeg firefighters battle two blazes Sunday

Winnipeg firefighters responded to a pair of fires on Sunday, and luckily there were no injuries.

The first incident happened just after 3 p.m. at a one-and-a-half-story home in the 500 block of Flora Avenue.

Crews arrived and began an exterior assault to find thick smoke coming from the structure. Later, they were able to enter the house, and the fire was extinguished at 4:00 p.m

One cat was safely removed from the house.

In a second incident Sunday, firefighters were called to a commercial building in the 100 block of First Milner Avenue around 8:23 p.m.

Firefighters found thick smoke coming from the yard behind the building with burning construction materials.

Crews were able to stop the flames from spreading to other nearby buildings. The fire was extinguished at 21:00

The cause of the two fires is still under investigation. There is no cost estimate.
