WINNIPEG – Manitobans will soon be able to apply for rebates for security upgrades in their homes and small businesses.

WINNIPEG – Manitobans will soon be able to apply for rebates for security upgrades in their homes and small businesses.

The $300 rebate announced in the recent provincial budget will be available for items such as security cameras, motion detectors and reinforced doors.

Monthly payments are not valid for current subscriptions or alarm systems.

Justice Minister Matt Wiebe said people can apply for the rebate starting in June, and it covers equipment purchased last September.

People with more than one home or business can only apply for equipment from one location.

Wiebe said crime and security were major issues during last year's provincial election campaign.
