Winnipeg double homicide suspect arrested

A major breakthrough has been made in two separate murder cases. Winnipeg Police say a suspect has been arrested. Maxime Dale Garneau27, due to two circumstances.

The first incident occurred on September 10, 2023, when police responded to a report of a shooting at an apartment building in the 200 block of College Avenue. victim, Daniel Raymond Harvey-RodriguezA 25-year-old man was found seriously injured and later died of his injuries in the hospital.

In a separate incident on March 18, 2024, police were called to a residence in the 1200 block of Selkirk Avenue, where they found her body. Edgar Allan Bear, 56, a member of the Peguis First Nation. The bear was also shot.

The Homicide Unit worked tirelessly on both investigations, which led to Garneau being identified as a suspect in both murders. After consultation with the Manitoba Public Prosecutor's Office, Garneau was charged with two counts of second-degree murder and an arrest warrant was issued.

On April 11, 2024, officers located Garneau in Winnipeg and arrested him. A loaded gun was found hidden in Garneau's backpack at the time of his arrest. The weapon and ammunition were confiscated and Garneau was arrested without incident.

Garneau was charged with two counts of second-degree murder, along with several other charges related to possession and concealment of a weapon. He remains in custody as the investigation continues.
