Toronto police have identified the man killed in a weekend shooting

Toronto police have identified a man who was shot and killed in the city's northwest Sunday afternoon.

Mohamud Abdi Duale, 32, of Toronto, was shot and died near Weston Road near Lawrence Avenue West and Ralph Street, police said.

Officers were called to the scene for reports of gunshots around 4:50 p.m., police said in a news release Monday.

When officers arrived, they found Duale with a gunshot wound and tried to resuscitate him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect or suspects fled the area and no suspect information has been released.

Duale is the city's 21st homicide victim of the year.

On Sunday evening, Det.-Sgt. Mike Taylor told reporters at the scene that he could not say if the shooting was targeted.

Anyone who witnessed the shooting or was driving in the area at the time and has a dash cam is urged to come forward.
