Driver on chase, crashes – Winnipeg Free Press

A man is facing charges after a drug bust that led to a fight, a car chase and a two-truck crash.

RCMP said Monday that a pre-arranged meeting to sell an item turned into a fight, and one truck chased another, causing a crash in the rural municipality of East St. Paul on Wednesday night.

The driver of the pursuing Nissan pickup, a 30-year-old Winnipeg man, faces charges of dangerous driving causing bodily harm and four counts of assault with a weapon. She was exonerated.

Four people in the Dodge truck were taken to the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. STARS Air Ambulance transported two people to the Health Sciences Center. The four – three men aged 37, 30 and 26 and a 23-year-old woman – are all from Winnipeg.

Video from the home's security system showed sparks flying as the trucks collided and plunged into a ditch next to pedestrians and bicyclists.

Witnesses said Free press There was apparently a fight in the store's parking lot before the crash last week. The crash happened on Raleigh Street, south of Pritchard Farm Road, shortly after 8:15 p.m.

Cell phone video taken by a customer at Garven Convenience, about 5 miles from Springfield, Ill., shows the man swinging at another man as he backs away and dodges the punch.

The customer said he was sitting in his car outside the store and could not hear the men or other people nearby.

RCMP have not confirmed whether those men were involved in the fight and collision last week. According to a man in the store, law enforcement officers went there to watch the video of the fight.
