A family is appealing for help in finding a missing Manitoba man

The family of a missing man is appealing to the public on Tuesday in hopes of finding him.

Garrett Chesney, of the Pimicikamak Cree Nation, said the family of the 26-year-old Trout came to Winnipeg in August for a medical appointment and decided to stay in the city with friends.

The last time he spoke with his family was on January 13 with his aunt, Tina Trout, via Facetime.

“If anyone knows where he is or has seen him, or if you see Garrett, can you call us?” said Laura Omand, Garrett's mother.

“We want to know you're okay. We want you to come home.”

According to Omand, Garrett was in regular contact with her family between August and January 13.

He is described as five foot seven with a medium build, brown eyes and brown hair.

“We will not give up hope that we will find you, my child.”

Shirley Robinson, a councilor for the Pimicikamak Cree Nation, said she hopes Garrett is found safe.

“Too many of our people are missing and not much is being done to find them. We hope that this mother's request will be heard,” said Robinson.

Pimicikamak Cree Nation Chief David Monias said anyone with information on Garrett's whereabouts can contact Winnipeg police, the Pimicikamak Cree Nation or the Manitoba Kivatinowi Okimakanak office.
