Montreal Early Cherry Blossom Tracker Spring 2024

With unusually warm mixed weather, Montreal's cherry blossoms may arrive early.

Throughout the month of May, the city turns pink thanks to the magnificent cherry, sycamore and magnolia trees that line the city.

But thanks to the mildest winter we've had this year, cherry blossoms in Montreal may arrive in April earlier than usual.

Enjoying the fragrant flowers is one of the best things to do in Montreal, so you won't want to miss it.

When can you see the cherry blossoms in Montreal?

Don't miss out on one of the most beautiful things to see in Montreal by taking advantage of Blooms Week here at the Montreal Botanical Garden.

Providing weekly updates on flowers and flowering trees, there is also a calendar of blooming and other notable plants, from tulips to cherry trees.

Where are the best places to see cherry blossoms in Montreal?

1. Montreal Botanical Garden

Spend the afternoon strolling through this 75-hectare park and Japanese garden, home to countless blooming crabapple flowers. Grab a blanket and celebrate the timeless tradition of o-hanami, which means “contemplation of flowers,” with a picnic under the blossoming trees on May 24, 2024.

2. Park Jean-Drapeau

Located on one of the largest eclipse nights in the province, this park sets the bar for Montreal's GOAT. It is spacious, surrounded by the St. Lawrence River, and was the site of the 1976 Olympics, making it a landmark. In addition to its magnificent flowering trees, it's home to many great festivals and events, from Osheaga to Picnic Electronics to the Formula 1 Grand Prix, as well as a verdant landscape criss-crossed with hiking, biking and skiing trails.

3. Westmount Park

Located just outside of downtown Montreal, this hidden gem is known for its stunning landscaping and landscaping. After seeing the stunning flowers, stop by the glass-enclosed conservatory and greenhouse, one of the city's hidden gems.

4. Sakura garden

Head to the park next to the Palais des Congrès Esplanade in Chinatown, one of the city's best spots for cherry blossoms — not to mention some great food and festivals.


5. Park Akhuntsich

Located in Montreal's Ahuntsic-Cartierville neighborhood, this lovely park features a large pond and landscaped gardens in addition to cherry blossoms on display.


6. Parc nature de l'Île-de-la-Visitation

At the northern tip of the island, this lovely park runs along the grassy hills that line the banks of the Rivière de Prairie, with occasional detours to rue Henri Bourassa. You'll see some of the oldest farmhouses in town and some gorgeous flowers.


7. Parc Angrignon

Located on the south side of the subway's Green Line, this park is a great tribute to the English gardens that were common in the 19th century. With tens of thousands of trees—including many blooming cherry trees—over 200 acres of wide open green spaces, trails, and ponds, one visit is rarely enough to feel like you've seen the park in its entirety.
