Police are investigating four unrelated stabbings over the weekend.

The incidents are being investigated by officers from the Winnipeg Police Service's Major Crimes Unit.

The first happened around 2:15 p.m. Saturday in the area of ​​Carlton Street and Cumberland Avenue. Officers of the main patrol police applied pressure to the injured adult man.

The second incident occurred at approximately 12:10 a.m. Sunday near Smitty's Restaurant at 1017 St. James St. Police said Sunday that investigators believe an altercation between two groups of people began inside the restaurant before spilling into the parking lot. Heavily armed tactical support team officers applied a tourniquet to a man suffering from lower body injuries. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later listed in stable condition, police said, while a second person suffered minor injuries.

The victims and others were in their 20s and 30s, WPS said on Sunday.

Police said Monday that one person has been arrested.

General patrol officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Maryland Street at approximately 1:45 a.m. following the stabbing of a 50-year-old man. Officers applied a chest seal to the victim before transporting him to the hospital.

Five minutes after they were dispatched to the stabbing in Maryland, police were dispatched to the stabbing in the area of ​​Salter Street and Anderson Avenue. Officers found a man in his 20s and placed a chest seal on him.
