WINNIPEG – NEWS – Winnipeg police officers were called to multiple stabbing incidents across the city over the weekend, highlighting the severity of the situations and the swift, life-saving responses of law enforcement.

Prompt response and emergency assistance

Incident at Carlton Street and Cumberland Avenue On April 13, 2024, officers from the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched to a report of a stabbing at the corner of Carlton Street and Cumberland Avenue. Upon arrival, they found an adult male with serious injuries. The officers provided first aid by applying pressure to the wounds to stop the bleeding until medical personnel arrived.

St. James Street incident In a separate incident shortly after midnight on April 14, officers rushed to the 1000 block of St. James Street where they found another man with serious injuries to his lower body. First responders used a tourniquet to demonstrate their emergency preparedness and preparedness to deal with difficult situations.

The incident on Maryland Street Another call led officers to the 300 block of Maryland Street on April 14, where they found a 50-year-old man suffering from life-threatening injuries. Police applied a chest seal to stabilize the victim before transporting him to the hospital for further treatment.

Incident at Salter Street and Anderson Avenue Minutes later, another stabbing was reported near Salter Street and Anderson Avenue. Responding officers found the 20-year-old man and administered chest compressions to prevent further injury.

Unrelated incidents in the investigation

These violent incidents appear to be unrelated but are all currently being investigated by the Major Crime Squad. Each case highlights the important role our police officers play not only in law enforcement but also in providing first aid in crisis situations.
