Firefighters are at the scene of a fire in a residential building in the city center

Crews are responding to a two-alarm fire at a downtown apartment building.

Toronto police said the fire broke out on the balcony of a residence near York Street and Bremner Boulevard around 12:23 p.m.

According to the police, the fire spread to the second balcony and broken glass was seen falling to the ground below.

Heavy smoke could be seen billowing from the affected units on Monday afternoon.

No one was injured in the fire, firefighters confirmed to CP24 at the scene. Many roads were closed, police said.
