The NE Calgary fire was caused by a barbecue

The Calgary Fire Department (CFD) says a propane barbecue was the cause of an explosion and fire at a northeast home over the weekend.

Fire Marshal Carol Henke says the explosion on Anaheim Green NE was accidental due to a barbecue that was used outside and then moved into the garage.

The force of the explosion was so powerful that the garage door was blown off, the boat crashed into another house, and the garage itself was knocked off its foundation.

The emergency team transported one person to the hospital with serious, non-life-threatening conditions.
