'Suddenly': Calgary is forecast to drop to 25°C and snow in the near future

Calgary is in for a rough week of weather, with temperatures plummeting and some snow headed towards the city.

Environment Canada and Climate Change (ECCC) issued a special weather statement for the city on Monday morning, calling for “severe weather changes in southern Alberta” thanks to a cold front moving through this afternoon. will reach the American border tonight.

“This front will bring a cold air mass with rain and snow. Precipitation starts as rain before changing to snow. A transition from rain to snow will begin this evening north of the Calgary area and overnight near Calgary.

According to the ECCC, when the temperature is slightly above 0°C, the type of precipitation as well as the accumulation of snow will change significantly.

It is not known whether some places will get 5-10cm of snow on Wednesday morning.

Looking at the long-term forecast, Calgary can expect calm and cool conditions for most of the work week, with today's highs between 16°C and 2°C and 3°C, including cooler nights. dropping to a low of -9°C on Thursday night.
